Paris 2024 officially launches its web platform to apply to be a volunteer for the next Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This Wednesday, 22 March, Paris 2024 will open a web platform for the volunteers' program for the Games. Up to 45,000 volunteers will have a unique experience to live the Olympic Games experience from the inside, when it takes place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 and of the Paralympic Games from 28 August until 8 September 2024.

"We were all welcomed by a volunteer in the world of sport," said Tony Estanguet, President of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and three-time Olympic gold medallist in canoe slalom, at a press conference announcing the launch on Tuesday (21 March). "They are the ones who gave us their first passion, the first contacts were made by volunteers. (...) They play a leading role in French Sport, they also play a leading role in the organisation of the Games. They will be the face of the Paris 2024 Olympics."
In various locales across France, in each of the official venues of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, volunteers will have opportunities to be involved in myriad areas across the event such as: welcoming and guiding fans and accredited people; aiding sports delegations; accompanying athletes to competition sites and press events; driving accredited members; supporting time keeping activities; helping with the distribution of equipment; and participating in medical support, to name just a few.
"We have solicitations from athletes who want to get involved in this volunteer program," said Estanguet. "We have more than fifty athletes who have told us, 'I was an athlete and I want to pay back and take part in this beautiful party.'"
French Olympic champion Pierre Durand, who won gold in Seoul 1988 in the individual equestrian jumping event, has already applied to be a volunteer in Paris 2024. To him, it's a role that goes far beyond the organisation of the Games.
“For those who would like to be a little more than spectators and be actors of Olympic Games Paris 2024, volunteering is the most rewarding role there is. Not only for you, but it also makes a very important and essential contribution to the image of our country and to the success of the Olympic Games,” he told Olympics.com.
