Pride House · Paris 2024
On the occasion of the Games, a celebration of diversity, Paris 2024 reaffirms its commitment to the fight against all forms of discrimination, and shows its support for all those who are victims of it. In line with its desire to open up the Games, Paris 2024 is announcing the creation during the Games of a place to represent these minorities, a place open to all where it will be possible to celebrate one's community and one's pride: the Pride House · Paris 2024.
DURING THE GAMES, DISCOVER THE PRIDE HOUSE
“Games wide open” is the slogan for Paris 2024, as well as a clear commitment to organising Games that are accessible for everyone. Led by the Fier-Play association and in collaboration with Paris 2024, its partners and public stakeholders, the Pride House will be set up at Club France during the Paralympic Games and will host a range of activities open to all: LGBTI+ and their allies.
The Pride House · Paris 2024 is a safe, identifiable, and welcoming space for everyone: LGBTI+ supporters, athletes, and allies. Its goal is to celebrate the LGBTI+ athletes and ensure their visibility with a programme of celebratory, cultural, and educational activities throughout the Games period.
Pride House · Paris 2024 is open to everyone who believes in the need for more inclusive sport, and was built with three core tenets in mind:
- Building awareness of the inclusion of LGBTI+ people in the world of sport by enabling them to express themselves from a dedicated space
- Offering a space for celebrating the performances of LGBTI+ athletes by enabling them to meet their supporters
- Leaving a legacy for the international sports movement of a more inclusive approach to LGBTI+ people in sport.
The Pride House - Paris 2024 program
The Pride House Pop Up
A first for Pride Houses, in 2024 the Pride House will come to meet the spectators. From June 15 to September 8, teams of volunteers will be visiting various festive venues organized by the city of Paris, and many others, to meet the public and raise awareness of the LGBTI+ issue in sport.
On the program: quizzes adapted to different types of audience to raise awareness of the subject, and inclusive, gender-neutral sports activities to help people discover sport in a different way.
PARIS 2024 IS COMMITTED TO COMBATING DISCRIMINATION
Paris 2024 is fully committed to fighting discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation, and the creation of a Pride House is in line with the commitments made by Paris 2024 and our various stakeholders in this area. Enabling everyone to come together in a safe place of celebration, exchange and education is one of the ways in which we can commit to the fight against all forms of discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation. To show its support for Pride House and members of the LGBTI+ community, the Paris 2024 emblem was adorned with the colors of the rainbow flag on May 17, 2023, World Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
As an employer, Paris 2024 signed the LBGT+ Commitment Charter in July 2018, which makes it possible to:
- Offer an exemplary and inclusive workplace environment
- Ensure equal rights and treatment for all employees
- Support any employees, irrespective of their gender, who might be victims of discriminatory actions or comments
- Measure the progress made and share best practices to improve the professional environment
Several initiatives around projects using sport as a tool for inclusion to celebrate differences are supported each year by the Paris 2024 Endowment Fund. They include:
- The Club Roller Derby in Isère, which is committed to promoting the position of women and gender minorities (transgender, intersex, non-binary people) in the governance of sporting structures
- The Kif Kif platform in Paris, which aims to facilitate meetings between people from different backgrounds – people with disabilities, LGBTQI+ people and/or people from popular neighbourhoods – to empower everyone to do sport together, looking beyond any differences
