Paris 2024 3x3 basketball: USA Olympic teams breakdown, highlights, stats, top performers for 30 July
Taking the floor at La Concorde in the heart of Paris, Team USA women’s 3x3 basketball team began their Paris 2024 campaign with an underwhelming performance in a 17-13 loss to Germany.
The Americans struggled to find offensive continuity, especially from long range. Team USA shot a respectable 10-20 from the field but only 1-8 from two-point range (the equivalent of three-point range in 5x5 basketball). Hailey Van Lith led the team in scoring with six points followed by Dearica Hamby, who added four points and seven rounds. Germany was led by five points from both Marie Reichert and Sonja Greinacher, who also snagged six rebounds. The difference in the game was Germany shooting 4-10 from two-point range.
The men’s team met a similar fate, falling to Serbia 22-14 to open group play. Team USA’s offense was stagnant, struggling to create open looks aside from a few layups by Jimmer Fredette early in the game. Yet, offense was not America's biggest problem. Serbia shot a perfect 12-12 on one-point shots, paired with 3-8 from two-point range as Team USA struggled to get stops. Kareem Maddox led the Americans with six points followed by Fredette with four. Serbia was led by eight points from Marko Brankovic and seven more by Strahinja Stojačić.

Game of the Day: Serbia vs United States
Of the two matchups, this was certainly the game of the day and not because of the Americans. Serbia did not miss a single one-pointer, displaying creative shotmaking and palpable synergy, which Team USA appeared to lack. Stojačić closed out the US with a long-range swish before celebrating with his teammates.

Player of the Day: Sonja Greinacher
Greinacher had a strong statline — five points and six rebounds — in a much closer contest between Team USA women’s team and Germany. She was efficient from inside the arc, going 3-5, while knocking down one of her two shots from long distance.
