The athletics' 2023 Diamond League season resumes in Oslo with a deep field led by four reigning world record holders: Karsten Warholm (400m hurdles), Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis (pole vault),  Wayde Van Niekerk (400m), and  triple jumper Yulimar Rojas.

Throughout history, the Bislett Stadium has been a haven for world records.

With such a deep field consisting of Olympic and world champions across various track and field events, there’s a chance that several world records could be rewritten, as previously seen in the series and at this venue.

The last man to set a world record at the meeting was Warholm in 2021, when he lowered a mark that had stood for 19 years.

In 1985, three new records were set at the Bislett Stadium.

With the the 2023 Diamond League series barely halfway through, three world records have already been broken, intensifying the anticipation for the upcoming event in Oslo.

Just like in 2021, Warholm will open his outdoor season in front of his home fans, competing against CJ Allen of the USA**.**

Can Duplantis, who broke the men's pole vault record for a record sixth time last February with a mark of 6.22m, soar even higher? It is highly possible.

On the other hand, Van Niekerk will face the strongest field since his injury in 2021.

Among the competitors are the fastest man this year, Zambian Muzala Samukonga, world championship bronze medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith, and Colombian Olympic silver medallist Anthony José Zambrano, all aiming to stop the 2016 Olympic gold medallist.

Rojas, who achieved a world-leading jump of 14.96m in her first outdoor competition in Madrid, has the opportunity to extend her dominance in the triple jump.

Following his impressive victory in Florence, Knighton will face Olympic champion Andre De Grasse in the race for the 200m title. Another local star to watch is Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen, fresh from his world-best performance in the two miles, as he aims to join the world record club in the 1500m.

The race will feature a rematch of the final from the 2022 world championships, with eight out of the nine racers confirmed. Only World champion Jake Wightman will miss the race due to injury.

Dutch sprinter Femke Bol and Jamaica’s Olympic champion Shericka Jackson will also be in action, competing in the women’s 400m hurdles and 100m dash, respectively.
