Hours before Celine Dion took to the Eiffel Tower to close a superb Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, Team GB’s Tom Daley recreated an iconic Titanic scene with his fellow flag bearer Helen Glover.

The now five-time Olympian took to the front of Team GB’s boat where he posed as Rose from the 1997 movie, whilst two-time gold medallist Helen Glover stood behind him in the role of Jack.

The famed scene is recognised across the world and, in the film, is accompanied by Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On.

Daley and Glover carried the flag for Team GB throughout the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony.

Glover, who is set to take part in her fourth Games in Paris, won gold at London 2012 and again at Rio 2016. She missed out in Tokyo, and is hoping to return to the podium this time around.

At only 30 years of age, Daley already has four Olympic medals to his name. The diver won bronze at London 2012 and added a second bronze to his collection at Rio 2016. In Tokyo he finally managed a gold, and will be looking to retain it when he steps onto the springboard at Paris Aquatics Centre.

But it’s not just diving that will keep Daley occupied during this Olympic Games.

Yet again, the Plymouth-born Olympian has been spotted cheering on his fellow Team GB divers whilst practising his other hobby: knitting.

Daley is well known throughout the Olympic world for working on his knitting technique, having previously opened up about how it helps him cope with stress.

“I became obsessed, essentially," the 30 year-old explained.

“With each project, I learned a new skill or a new technique or a new stitch. Then I started designing my own things, and then once I started that, I went to the Olympics and people saw that I knit. One thing led to another.”

Daley shared his knitting plans for Paris 2024 on his Instagram page, @madewithlovebytomdaley, where he posts about his love for knitting, crochet and crafts.

A rough sketch revealed that the Olympian will be spending his free time in the French capital creating a Paris-inspired jumper, complete with Team GB colours and an Eiffel Tower.

The father of two was spotted working on his latest creation whilst watching fellow British divers Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen.

The pair secured Team GB’s first medal of Paris 2024 when they took bronze in the women’s three metre synchronised diving competition.
