With more than 14 months to go until the opening ceremony, Paris 2024 has already sold 70 per cent of the 10 million tickets for the Olympic Games. As a next step, Paris 2024 announces the opening of Paralympic Games ticketing on 9 October.

The second phase of ticketing for Olympic Games Paris 2024 ended on Friday 19 May 2023. It was an unprecedented success with new sales records including more than one million tickets sold in 36 hours.

By the end, 1.89 million tickets were sold in just over a week for the whole 767 sessions of the Games.

"The success of the ticket sale was better than we ever could have imagined," said Tony Estanguet, president of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The second phase concerned single tickets only and was accessible worldwide via a draw system. All the events in the Olympic program (without surfing, which doesn’t have a ticket sale), including all the finals as well as opening and closing ceremonies were available.

Around 60 per cent of tickets were sold for 100€ or less. Tickets sold at 24€ represent 17 per cent.

People from 178 countries bought tickets for Paris 2024

Similar to the first phase, the demand for tickets was bigger than the offer with four million people registered for the draw.

The French public represented two thirds of the buyers – 63.5 per cent of the buyers live in France and 36.5 per cent overseas – while people from 178 countries bought tickets during this second phase.

The medium age of buyers is 40 years old and 45 per cent are women.

Tickets sold during the second phase concern all sports in the Olympic program – bar surfing – and across the price range.

Unsurprisingly, team events, which require the biggest capacity stadiums, come top of the most sold sports.

  1. Football
  2. Basketball
  3. Handball
  4. Athletics
  5. Volleyball

Tickets – no matter the category – for triathlon, sport climbing, BMX Racing, BMX Freestyle or breaking were all sold on the first day of sales (Thursday 11 May), in less than two hours!

Taking into account the different phases ('multi-ticket' packages, single tickets), as well as sales to different stakeholders of the Games, Paris 2024 has already sold 6.8 million of tickets for the Olympic Games.

“A next phase of Olympic Games tickets will be held this summer," added Estanguet. "The procedure for this new phase – without a draw – will be specified in the coming weeks.”

Paralympic Games Paris 2024 ticketing will be launched on 9 October 2023

Organised in France for the first time in the nation's history, the Paralympic Summer Games increases in expectation and excitement at every edition and in 2024, will be held from 28 August to 8 September.

The ticketing of the next Paralympic Games will open on Monday 9 October, once again through the unique platform tickets.paris2024.org.

On this occasion, 2.8 million tickets will be put up for sale for the whole competition. This sale will be worldwide, accessible in real time and without any draw.

For the first Paralympic Summer Games organised in France, more than 500,000 tickets will cost 15€, and the price of almost half of the 2.8 million tickets will be under 25€. The exceptional sessions and best seats in the stadium will cost up to 100€.
