Olympic Esports Finals 2023: Virtual Taekwondo competitors confirmed
The 16 competitors will compete in the Virtual Taekwondo finals on 25 June 2023 in Singapore.
The 16 players who will compete in Virtual Taekwondo at the inaugural Olympic Esports Finals 2023 from 23–25 June in Singapore have been confirmed.
Of them, eight are local youth athletes and the other eight are taekwondo legends – who all have Olympic Games experience and even medals.
They will face off at the Suntec Conference and Exhibition Centre on 25 June to be crowned Olympic Esports Finals winner.
Virtual Taekwondo was put forward by World Taekwondo to represent the sport in the Olympic Esports Series 2023.
Virtual Taekwondo competitors – Olympic Esports Finals 2023
The eight local youth athletes, four male and four female, from Singapore are:

- Alexander Tang
- Jadon Yu
- Nigel Tan
- Amelia Yap
- Natalie Tor
- Daycia Low
- Kenzie Li
The eight taekwondo legends are:
- Wu Jingyu, four-time Olympian, two gold medals, People's Republic of China
- Nikpai Rohullah, two-time Olympian, two bronze medals, Afghanistan
- Leonardo Basile, Beijing 2008 Olympian, Italy
- Aaron Cook, two-time Olympian, Great Britain and Moldova
- Carmen Marton, three-time Olympian, Australia
- Yasmina Zora Aziez, Rio 2016 Olympian, France
- Hwang Kyungseon, three-time Olympian, two gold medals and one bronze medal, Republic of Korea
- Nur Tatar, three-time Olympian, one silver medal and one bronze medal, Türkiye
Olympic Esports Finals 2023: Virtual Taekwondo competition format
The virtual system, which uses motion tracking technology, ensures an even playing field between the legends and local youth athletes. They will engage in one-on-one virtual sparring with no real-life contact.
A tournament will be held in a single-elimination knockout system, with each game lasting roughly 90 seconds.
Alongside Virtual Taekwondo, nine other games are part of the Olympic Esports Series and Olympic Esports Finals. They are: Tic Tac Bow (archery), WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS (baseball), Chess.com (chess), Zwift (cycling), Just Dance (dance), Gran Turismo (motorsport), Virtual Regatta (sailing), Fortnite (shooting), and Tennis Clash (tennis).
