23 June. It is the date synonymous with Olympic Day every year.

First made official in 1948, it is an annual celebration of sport, health, and togetherness,

Each year a theme is coined for the commemorative day, in which people across the globe mark the founding of the International Olympic Committee, on 23 June 1894, at the Sorbonne in Paris.

Here are the key things to know about the 2024 edition of the IOC’s anniversary.

What is the theme of Olympic Day 2024?

The theme of this year’s Olympic Day is ‘Let’s Move and Celebrate’ to inspire and encourage people to embrace the joy of movement this summer.

In collaboration with the World Health Organisation, the theme invites everyone to join in the fun of sport and recreate or develop iconic athlete celebration moves.

Several Olympic legends are joining in with the campaign to encourage everyone to get involved.

Let’s Move is a great initiative, as it demonstrates to everyone the joy and simplicity of movement,” Team GB triathlete Alistair Brownlee said.

“Movement and exercise are such an important part of everyone’s health, and it’s brilliant to see how the Olympic Movement can transcend all levels of fitness to encourage everyone to move in their own way.”

Let’s Move is an ongoing theme for Olympic Day, launched in 2023 to inspire people to move every day, anyhow, anywhere.

It is part of the IOC's mission to make the world a better place through sport.

How can you get involved in Olympic Day 2024?

There is no one way to get involved in Olympic Day 2024!

Whether at home, online, or through a traditional Olympic Day run, there are plenty of opportunities to take part, and millions of people are expected to do just that.
