It’s ‘Time for Nature.’

That’s the theme of 2020’s World Environment Day. The designation comes from the United Nations Environment Programme which "encourages worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment."

‘I know I am not alone in how I feel’

2018 Olympian Akwasi Frimpong of Ghana recently took to Instagram to share a post about his experience as a black man. The post come in the wake of the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery in the United States.

Frimpong’s Instagram photo is part of a larger post written for Pulse.com.

“For years I avoided calling out racism, perhaps thinking if I didn’t say anything people will do the right thing and treat everyone equally regardless of skin colour,” he wrote. “Sadly, that’s not the case and I have to say something because I know I am not alone in how I feel.”

NBA basketball is set to return in late July

A new proposal from the NBA involves 22 teams playing eight games each to determine those that advance to the playoffs.

Under the new plan, ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando would host the games without fans, in order to minimize the threat of the coronavirus.

News of a possible resumption of the NBA season comes just two weeks before games in the Chinese Basketball Association are set to resume on 20 June.

"Many people have done lots of work to make this happen," 2008 Olympian and NBA all-star Yao Ming said. "Our job at the moment is to carry out our plan, which will require everyone's effort."

Argentina swimming phenom Delfina fears Tokyo 2020 letdown

2018 Youth Olympic Games swimming silver medallist and three-time Pan Am Games champion Delfina Pignatiello fears that her training interruption will have a severe impact on her Tokyo 2020 hopes.

“I’ve been unable to train in a pool for 11 weeks. It’s a world record. There are no exercises that replicate the sensitivity a swimmer needs to train in the water,” she told All News. “I’m training to maintain my fitness, but for a swimmer to lose a week of training equals two or three months of recovery.”

The 20-year-old has asked her government for protocol permission to resume training but fears any further delay may damage her Olympic dreams.

“I feel like going to an Olympic Games to represent my country in the best way possible, I like to put on my flag, but I like to do it right, I don’t like to go and play a game,” said Pignatiello. “This is a serious matter. My body has to be prepared. Not that a month earlier I can prepare myself. The last year of preparation for an Olympic Game is essential.”

Now to trivia…

Yesterday, we asked what Fred Lorz did during the 1904 Olympic marathon to be disqualified. The answer? He drove parts of the race in car. That would make things easier…

Here’s today’s question.
