Get your daily update of Olympic news: Trivia, trends, and talking points as inconclusive test pauses WNBA playoffs

By Scott Bregman

Today is the International Day of Peace, and it is hard to think of anything that better relates to our Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship.

But here’s one possible option: the newly crowned Emmy-award winning television series Schitt’s Creek, which according to show creator Dan Levy is “about the transformational effects of love and acceptance.”

And Olympic figure skating team bronze medallist Adam Rippon agrees.

WNBA semifinal playoff delayed

Game 1 of the WNBA semi-final playoff match up between the Seattle Storm and Minnesota Lynx has been postponed due to ‘inconclusive coronavirus test results’ for Storm players, according to the Associated Press.

“Players with inconclusive results have undergone additional testing today and are currently in isolation,” the WNBA said in a statement.

The game was called off just 90 minutes prior tip off and many players from the Lynx had already arrived. ESPN’s Holly Rowe tweeted Sunday evening that Game 1 has been rescheduled for Tuesday.

NBA playoff action also resumes on Tuesday as the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets head to Game 3. The Lakers currently lead 2-0.

Uchimura Kohei’s mum, Shuko, performs at All Japan Championships

Ahead of double Olympic gymnastics all-around Japan Uchimura Kohei’s return to competition after a year away, his mum, Shuko, took center stage at the All Japan Championships this weekend in Takasaki.

The 58-year-old donned a leopard-print leotard as she took to the floor exercise. She earned an 8.6 (out of 10.0), according to Rocker Gymnastics.

Uchimura himself, who earlier this year told Olympic Channel he is pain-free as he focuses on high bar for Tokyo 2020, looked solid in training footage posted online, executing his trademark double-flipping catch and release elements. He also appeared to be working a new element, adding a full-twist to one of his elements.

Men's competition begins Tuesday.

Trivia time

Yesterday, we asked how many people had applied to be volunteers for Tokyo 2020. If you guessed 204,680 – you were right! And thank you to all of the amazing people who help the Games run smoothly.
