Olympic Champion Conseslus Kipruto unhurt after car accident

Olympic and World 3000m steeplechase Champion Conseslus Kipruto has escaped a car crash unhurt in Eldoret, Kenya.
Kipruto’s car was partly damaged, but the Kenyan and other occupants of his SUV were unhurt in the Tuesday night crash that involved a tractor, according to local media.
Details of the accident have not yet been released by the local police.
One-shoe hero
The 23-year-old recently wrapped up a stellar season winning the Commonwealth and Africa titles.
He lost his shoe at the Diamond League meet in Zurich but still managed to win the race and the overall trophy.
A week later he clinched the Continental title for team Africa in Ostrava.
Kipruto is the successor to double Olympic steeplechase champion Ezekiel Kemboi who has switched to the roads.
Since winning gold in Rio, the three-time world medallist has won every major title.
He is eyeing the world record next year.
Bad memories
The accident is an upsetting reminder of the car crash that killed the 2015 World 400m hurdles champion, Nicholas Bett, last August.
Another Kenyan star, Olympic javelin silver medallist Julius Yego, also escaped unhurt after his car collided with a truck in 2016.
