“Big smiles…” that's how 24-year-old pole vault sensation Molly Caudery responded after etching her name in British history books

“A huge thank you to my support team and everyone there yesterday, it was magical,” she wrote on Instagram, after setting a new national women’s pole vault record.

With a jump that cleared 4.92m, Caudery won the Toulouse Capitole Perche meet in France on Saturday (22 June).

She becomes the seventh-best jumper of all time, with no vaulter in the women’s discipline jumping higher since 2021.

The Brit has been tipped to carry this form into Paris 2024 next month by Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill.

“I think it’s going to be an amazing Games [and] I think we’ve got some great medal prospects,” the former heptathlete told The Independent.

“I think Molly Caudery in the pole vault is looking incredible. She’s already jumped a personal best, a British record and the world lead.

“It’s going to be a great Games for her, so I’m really excited to see her perform.”
