Olympic 100m champion Marcell Jacobs returns to the track for the East Coast Relays on Saturday 27 April in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Italian athletics star, who is targeting a second 100m gold medal at Paris 2024, has not competed for over seven months.

His last race took place at the Zagreb Meeting in Croatia on 10 September 2023.

In Jacksonville, Jacobs will strive to meet the entry standard for the Olympic Games of 10.00 seconds.

The 29-year-old will face a strong field including 200m Olympic gold medallist Andre De Grasse and Trayvon Bromell, a two-time bronze medallist at the World Championships in the 100m event.

Last year, Jacobs parted ways with his coach Paolo Camossi and relocated to Florida to join a training group led by Rana Reider.

The East Coast Relays are scheduled on 26 and 27 April, with Jacobs and the 100m field set to race on 27 April at 15:00 local time (21:00 CET).

At Tokyo 2020, Jacobs made history as Italy's first 100m Olympic champion, clocking a time of 9.80, which remains the European record.
