SHANGHAI – Comments from Japan’s Liz Akama after finishing second in the Skateboarding Women’s Street Final at the OQS Shanghai on Sunday.
Liz Akama – Japan
On finishing second, scoring 274.35 points:
“I’m really happy to rank (as) number two.
“I got 90 points in my second run, so I guess that’s very good. Also, with my best trick, I got over 90 points, too. I guess I just did a very good job (laughs).
“I will try my best and aim at the first place in Budapest.”
On her feelings ahead of the final:
“I was a little nervous at the beginning, but I soon started to feel more relaxed. Later on, during the tricks and the last minutes of the competition, I was very nervous again.”
On what she did to ease the nerves:
“I tried to remember the words of good luck that my friends and my family told me. I also told myself that I just really wanted to do this. That also helped me to feel stronger.”
