Alpine skiing legend Lindsey Vonn will serve as a forerunner before the downhill and Super-G World Cup race this weekend in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

The Vancouver 2010 gold medallist is set to test the demanding course as a forerunner on all three training days starting on Wednesday (11 December) according to the U.S. Ski Team.

The 40-year old Vonn got her first taste of competitive racing in her return from retirement this past weekend in two downhill and two Super-G races at the FIS Fall Festival at Copper Mountain, Colorado.

"I’m still testing equipment and getting back in the groove. This is only the beginning and the way I’m skiing is more important than the times at this point," she said after her first races back.

The U.S. superstar was trying to secure some points in the lower-tier FIS event in Copper Mountain in order to qualify for the World Cup.

"Well...after a solid weekend of races I am now qualified to race World Cup!" she posted on X. "Now let’s see when I’m ready."

No announcement has been made in which World Cup race Vonn will start as a competitor.
