Lausanne 2020 celebrates Olympic Day with a giant flash mob
To celebrate Olympic Day in the “Olympic Capital”, the city of Lausanne teamed up with the Lausanne 2020 YOG organisers on Friday and called on 1,200 year six pupils from schools across the city to stage a flashmob to create the Olympic rings.
Dressed in T-shirts in the Olympic colours of blue, yellow, black, green and red, the pupils enjoyed a morning of sports games and perfecting the choreography of this mega-flashmob. When they were ready, the giant rings came together perfectly under a clear blue sky at the Bellerive public pool, on the shores of Lake Geneva.
This is one example of how Lausanne 2020, along with the city and region, is involving young people from local schools and universities in every stage of the organisation, to ensure that the Games are staged by and for young people.
