Kristof Milak set a new world record in the men's 200m butterlfy final at the FINA world championships in Gwangju, South Korea.
The 19-year-old Hungarian won the event in 1:50.73. That breaks the previous record (1:51.51) set by Michael Phelps in 2009
Japan's Daiya Seto and South Africa Chad Le Clos, in bronze, completed the podium.
"It's a tremendous honour to beat such a great men's world record." Milak said after the event.
"When I turned back and I saw the time, 1:50.73? All the pressure and tension just went off my back and all the joy came out."
This is what Milak said about Michael Phelps only a few months ago.
Last October Milak won three gold medals at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games.
"I'm getting better all the time" he said during an interview at that time.
"My goals for next year are to keep getting better results and to break records."
Well, the Hungarian teenager kept his word...
