Joseph Garbaccio - France

SHANGHAI — Comments from France’s Joseph Garbaccio after earning the top score of 85.52 in heat two of the men’s run portion of the OQS Shanghai Skateboard Street Preliminaries on Thursday.

Joseph Garbaccio - France

On earning an 85.52 for the top scoring run in heat two:

“It’s different than the other competitions before. There was a lot of pressure today but I was able to land my run first try, and I took a lot of pleasure from my skateboarding in that run. That’s what skateboarding is all about.”

On being the sole French representative in Shanghai with Aurelien Giraud and Vincent Milou not competing this week:

“It’s better when you can skate with your friends, but I’m here for France and I’m stoked anyhow.”

On staying in the moment despite the pressure of trying to qualify for his home country Games:

“It’s just about skating my best. I’m trying to improve my best tricks. I’ve got some big stuff coming up for the tricks section, but it’s a secret right now.”
