This Sunday morning, kicking off the final day of the Paris 2024 Paralympics, Switzerland took center stage. Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner, securing her fifth gold of the competition, triumphed in the T54 Paralympic marathon, with the finish line set against the stunning backdrop of the Esplanade des Invalides.

The Para athletics events at the Paris 2024 Paralympics concluded this Sunday morning with the marathons, held between Parc George-Valbon in La Courneuve and the Esplanade des Invalides. On this scenic Parisian course, it was the T54 wheelchair athletes who tackled the 42.195-kilometer distance.

The men's race was won by Switzerland's Marcel Hug. After a frustrating experience on the track at the Stade de France, where he missed out on gold, the Swiss legend made a spectacular comeback, dominating the marathon from start to finish. Breaking away early, Hug secured a solo victory with a time of 1 hour, 27 minutes, and 39 seconds. Silver went to China's Jin Hua, trailing 3 minutes and 40 seconds behind, while Japan's Tomoki Suzuki claimed bronze just behind him.
