Jessie Diggins goes into her first home cross-country skiing World Cup event on Sunday (18 February) in Minneapolis, tipped to take a remarkable 21st victory at the top levels of the sport.

The Olympic and world champion from the U.S. is having the best season of her career after clinching her fifth individual World Cup race of 2023/24 in Canmore, Canada, to add to her Tour de Ski title.

She won the women's 15km freestyle last Friday (9 February), her 10th individual podium finish this season, and leads the standings for the World Cup overall title, which she also won in 2020/21.

With her win in Canmore, the 32-year-old surpassed the USA teammate she won Winter Olympic team sprint gold alongside, Kikkan Randall, for most wins in one season from an American cross-country skier.

It’s the first time in 23 years that the World Cup circuit includes a competition in the U.S., with sprint and distance races taking place, and the event is taking place just 40km away from Diggins' hometown of Afton.
