Italy captures team title at the City of Jesolo Trophy; Rebeca Andrade leads Brazil to silver

A veteran Italian team captured the women's team title Saturday (20 April) at gymnastics' City of Jesolo (Italy) Trophy competition.

The squad, led by twin sisters Alice and Asia D'Amato, tallied a 166.800 for the top spot ahead of Brazil's 164.465. Team USA rounded out the podium in third with a 163.934 final score.

In the individual all-around competition, Canada's Ellie Black, a three-time Olympian, and Alice D'Amato tied for the top score with matching 55.733 totals. Asia D'Amato was the third place finisher, tallying 54.900 across the four apparatus.

Brazil's Rebeca Andrade, the reigning World and Olympic vaulting champion, posted the highest single vault score (14.633) along with the top mark on the uneven bars (14.567). Her teammate, Flavia Saraiva, earned a 14.233 score on the balance beam to lead the standings there.

American Tiana Sumanasekera was the highest scorer Saturday on the floor exercise with a 13.900.

The apparatus titles will be award as competition wraps up Sunday (21 April).
