The Indian shooters consolidated their position at the top of the table after winning a gold, silver and bronze medal at the ISSF Junior World Championship 2021 in Lima, Peru on Thursday.

The gold winners for India were Vijayveer Sidhu and Rhythm Sangwan in the 25m rapid fire pistol mixed team event.

The Indian duo registered a dominating 9-1 win over Thailand’s Kanyakorn Hirunphoem and Schwakon Triniphakorn, winning four of the five-series final. Vijayveer-Rhythm were second in the qualification rounds.

Another mixed Indian pair, Tejaswini and Anish Bhanwala, also claimed a spot on the podium in the 25m rapid fire pistol event as they claimed the bronze medal after defeating the second Thai team.

Unlike the gold medal match, India’s Tejaswini and Anish were stretched by the Thai duo of Chawisa Paduka and Ram Khamhaeng but eventually prevailed 10-8 to clinch the bronze.

The women’s 50m 3 positions team, meanwhile, lost to the USA in the final and settled for silver in the event.

The trio of Nischal, Prasiddhi Mahant and Ayushi Podder went down 43-47 to a strong USA team to settle for a silver.

After Thursday’s exploits, India now have 23 medals – 10 gold, nine silver and four bronze – at the junior world shooting championship.

Manu Bhaker, with four golds and one bronze, is the most successful Indian at this edition of the meet.
