Indian boxer Vijender Singh will be back in pro-boxing action on March 19 atop the roof of the Majestic Pride Casino Ship docked on the Mandovi River in Goa.

It is the first Las Vegas-style pro-boxing event to be held in India. Vijender Singh will face Russia's Artysh Lopsan.

In his six bouts, the 26-year-old Lopsan has won four, with two knockouts, lost one and drawn one.

“It’s going to be a good fight,” Vijender Singh said. “I watched Lopsan’s videos and he’s a good fighter. But I’m ready to knock him out like I did to my eight previous opponents. I am ready to finish the fight in the early rounds.”

The bout has been dubbed the Battle on Ship and it will be the 13th pro-boxing bout of Vijender Singh’s career. It will be his fifth fight in India, and first in Goa, having earlier fought in New Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur.

The Bhiwani-born boxer has been unbeaten in each of his last 12 fights. You can watch Vijender Singh vs Artysh Lopsan live in India.

“Vijender is a good fighter but I’m here to end his unbeaten streak,” Artysh Lopsan said. “I’ve trained hard for this fight and I’m raring to go.”

After a successful amateur boxing career, where he won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics – India’s first boxing medal at the Games – Vijender Singh switched to pro-boxing in 2015.

He has since gone on to win the World Boxing Organisation (WBO)’s Asia Pacific Super Middleweight title in 2016 and the WBO Oriental Super Middleweight title in 2017.

Vijender Singh’s last pro-boxing bout was in November 2019, where he beat two-time Commonwealth Super Middleweight champion Ghanian Charles Adamu in Dubai.
