Paris 2024 Olympics: How to watch USWNT live
The U.S. women's national soccer team (USWNT) is the most successful side in women’s Olympic football.
Such a formidable record, which has seen them win gold on four occasions, makes them the team to watch going into every tournament – including Paris 2024.
In the seven editions they have participated in, the Americans have reached the podium in all but one, exiting at the quarter-final stage in Rio 2016.
Paris marks the first major test for newly-appointed head coach Emma Hayes, who has already made a big call by not selecting Alex Morgan in her 18-player roster.
Drawn into Group B, they will face Zambia, Germany, and Australia.
Read on to find out how you can follow all of the action live from Paris…
USWNT’s performance in women’s football at the Olympics
Atlanta 1996, in what was a home Olympic Games for the USA, marked the introduction of women’s football at the Olympics. It was an emphatic run from the hosts, who just about emerged from the semi-finals against Norway courtesy of a rare golden goal, before beating the Republic of China 2-1 in the final to win gold.
They looked to repeat that feat in 2000, making it to the final where Norway would await them. Coincidentally enough, four years after that semi-final, this game would be settled by a golden goal once more – this time in favour of the Norwegians, who clinched gold after 102 minutes of relentless football, winning 3-2.
The USWNT would return to winning ways four years later, at Athens 2004, in what was the start of a flawless run of Olympic campaigns. Beijing 2008 would see them go back-to-back, before completing a hat-trick of golds at London 2012.
But that was to be their final golden outing to date, exiting at the quarter-final stage in Rio before a third-placed finish in Tokyo three years ago.
