The Olympic Games Paris 2024 are here, and Team USA is back.
From 26 July to 11 August, Paris, France, hosts the world’s best athletes in the largest multi-sports global gathering there is.
Nearly 600 athletes are representing Team USA in the French capital, aiming to bring home a medal from the Games.

How many times has the United States taken part in the summer Olympic Games?
Paris 2024 will be the 30th edition of the Olympic Games. Team USA has taken part in every year except 1980, when the U.S. boycotted the Moscow Games.
The United States has hosted four Olympic Games in the summer – St Louis 1904, Los Angeles 1932 and 1984, and Atlanta 1996 – and will host again after Paris, at LA28.
It means the Closing Ceremony of Paris 2024 will be one to look forward to, with Los Angeles getting to present a segment following the handover of the Olympic Flag.
How many medals did Team USA win at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020?
As of Tokyo 2020, Team USA has won 1065 gold medals and 2638 total medals at the summer Olympic Games.
At those Games in the Japanese capital in 2021, U.S. athletes and teams finished with 39 gold, 41 silver, and 33 bronze medals for a total of 113 medals.
Team USA has broken through the 100-medal mark at every Olympic Games since Athens 2004. The last time the team did not do so was in 2000, when the USA won 93 medals.
Unsurprisingly, track and field athletics and swimming are the top U.S. sports for medals.
