Last year, Noah Lyles’ performance at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest was a highlight for USA men’s sprinting.

The American star won triple gold in the 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay and - in the process - earned the moniker of “fastest man in the world.”

This week (21-30 June), Lyles, the Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist in 200m, will be among a stacked field of elite sprinters competing at the U.S. Olympic Team TrialsTrack and Field at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon looking to qualify for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Lyles will compete in the 100m and 200m events. His Trials will kick off with the 100m first-round heats on Saturday, 22 June. The semi-finals will be held the following afternoon, with finals closing out Sunday night’s competition.

He’ll be back for the men’s 200m, which will be held over three days, beginning Thursday, 27 June, with the first-round heats. Semi-finals are scheduled for Friday evening, and finals will close out Saturday night’s competition (29 June).

The defending world champion will be going all out to represent the U.S. in a second Olympic Games.

Noah Lyles: Personal best 200m came at Hayward Field in 2022

Lyles earned his personal best time winning the men's 100m final at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in 9.83 seconds.

Lyles has raced the 100m three times this season, shaving time off at each stop. Most recently he clocked an impressive 9.85 on 2 June at the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica, being clipped at the line by Jamaica’s Oblique Seville (9.82).

In the 200m, his marquee event, Lyles will be looking to match his past performance at Hayward Field in Eugene. At the World Championships in 2022, he set a new national record time of 19.31, marking the third-fastest time in that event ever.

In his 200m season debut on 9 June at the USATF New York City Grand Prix, Lyles easily took the win, running into a headwind with a time of 19.77.

Lyles will compete among a stacked US men’s sprinting field at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials with some of the world’s best set to compete, including Fred Kerley, Kenneth Bednarek, Christian Coleman, Kyree King and Erriyon Knighton in the 200m, all looking to earn their way to Paris 2024.
