The alpine skiing competitions conclude on day 7, with the mixed team parallel event taking place in Alpensia.
Only European countries have medalled in the discipline since 2012. France, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy are the medal favourites, with the United States hoping to break the European dominance.
In freestyle skiing, the mixed team dual moguls will be contested for the first time. The countries that are expected to battle for the podium are the United States, Canada, and Sweden.
Speed skating will also conclude on day 7 at the Gangneung Oval, where the men and women will race the mass start event.
Angel Daleman of the Netherlands has already claimed two gold medals and a bronze at Gangwon 2024. The reigning junior world champion in mass start can write history and become the first woman to take three golds in speed skating at a Winter Youth Olympic Games.
Jung Huidan of the host nation was second in the individual 500m, and the home crowd will be cheering for the 16-year-old to challenge the Dutch favourite.
For the men, Germany’s Finn Sonnekalb has been just as dominant as Daleman, winning the 500m and 1500m individual events. Only one men’s speed skater has won three golds before in the sport, and the German can be the first since the inaugural edition of the Winter Youth Olympics to do so.
Fans of the Republic of Korea will hope that Shin Seonung can take another medal after clinching bronze in the 500m individual.
