On day 6 of competition at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024, five medal events will take place.

Medals are awarded in alpine skiingfreestyle skiing, snowboard, and speed skating, while the curling and ice hockey competitions continue.

Alpine skiing

Freestyle skiing

  • 13:14 - Men's freeski slopestyle (final run)

Gangwon 2024: Key athletes to watch on day 6 of the Winter Youth Olympic Games

Alpine skiers move on to the slalom, and in the men's event Britain's Zak Carrick-Smith will be looking for his third medal of these Youth Olympics, as will Giorgia Collomb in the women's event.

Day six sees freeski men's slopestyle competition take place, Charlie Beatty of Canada is one of the athletes tipped for a medal, New Zealander Finley Melville Ives who is set to compete in all three park and pipe events and has four Top 10 finishes on the senior World Cup since his debut in December 2022 so will be one to watch.

Men's snowboard slopestyle follows in Welli Hilli. The Gangwon 2024 hosts will be cheering for Lee Chaeun, an accomplished athlete on the senior circuit despite being only 17. Chaeun is the reigning halfpipe world champion and will also be competing in slopestyle and Big Air at Gangwon 2024. The teen star is not a novice to Olympic competitions either, having received a last-minute call up for Beijing 2022 where he finished in 18th place.

For speed skating, the Gangneung Oval hosts the mixed relay semi-finals and final. Netherlands expect to be medal contenders, with Angel Daleman as part of their team and going for her third gold of these Games. Also look out for Hungary, Poland, and the hosts Republic of Korea.
