The Indian archery team, led by three-time Olympian Deepika Kumari, will be in action at the Final World Quota Tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympics starting in Antalya, Turkiye from Friday.
A total of four quotas for women’s teams, three for recurve men’s teams and two individual quotas per gender will be on offer at the final world Olympic archery qualifier. However, each country can obtain a maximum of one team quota or one individual quota from the Antalya meet.
More than 300 recurve archers from 84 countries will be in action in Turkiye. Nations winning team quotas in Turkiye will also win three individual quotas each for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Matches will be live streamed.
Nations can either win a team quota (three archers) or an individual quota (one archer) per gender for the Olympic Games.
Semi-finalists in the women’s team event will secure a quota for the Paris Olympics while the men’s team event will have the top three teams obtain the quota places.
Nations missing out on team quotas will have a chance to obtain quotas from individual events.
The world No. 2 Indian men’s archery team, which stunned reigning Olympic champions Republic of Korea for gold medal at the Shanghai World Cup, includes Olympians Pravin Jadhav, Tarundeep Rai and also Dhiraj Bommadevara.
Former world No. 1 Deepika Kumari, Bhajan Kaur and Ankita Bhakat make up the eighth-ranked Indian women’s team for the final Olympic qualifiers.
Deepika Kumari won the silver medal in the women’s recurve event at the Shanghai World Cup after starting her international season with a gold medal at the Asia Cup in February.
India can also obtain quotas through world rankings if results don’t go their way in Antalya.
The top two teams per gender in the world rankings as of June 24, who have not already obtained quotas, will secure quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
A total of 128 archers (64 men and 64 women) will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This figure includes host country quotas (three per gender) and Universality places (two per gender).
The qualification period for archery at the Paris 2024 Olympics ends on June 24.
Dhiraj Bommadevara secured India’s only archery quota for the upcoming Summer Games through the Asian Continental Qualifier Tournament in Bangkok last year.
However, the men’s recurve quota will be added back to the pool if India secure a team quota through the final qualifiers or rankings and confirm its use for the Games.

The team and individual finals at the Final World Quota Tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympics will be streamed live on Archery+. There will be no live telecast of the final world archery Olympic qualifiers on any TV channel in India.
