FIH hockey awards 2021-22: India’s PR Sreejesh, Harmanpreet Singh, Savita Punia get nominations 

India’s head coaches Graham Reid and Janneke Schopman and young players Sanjay and Mumtaz Khan have also been nominated for FIH awards for 2021-22 season.

Indian hockey team players PR Sreejesh, Harmanpreet Singh and Savita Punia have been shortlisted for the 2021-22 year-end FIH awards.

Harmanpreet Singh has been nominated for the FIH Men’s Player of the Year award while PR Sreejesh and Savita Punia are in the running for the FIH Men’s and Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively.

All three had won the awards in their categories in the 2020-21 edition.

Indian men’s team head coach Graham Reid is in the shortlist for the FIH Men’s Team Coach of the Year award while women’s team coach Janneke Schopman is also in the running for the women’s coach of the year honour.

Graham Reid was voted the men’s team coach of the year for 2020-21.

The international hockey federation awards take into consideration performances in the FIH Pro League, women’s World Cup and continental championships (Asia Cup in India’s case) over the past year.

Indian men and women won bronze at their respective Asia Cups. Both teams finished an identical third  in the men’s and women’s FIH Pro League 2021-22, respectively. The women’s team also finished ninth at the women’s hockey World Cup this year.

Youngsters Sanjay and Mumtaz Khan have been nominated for the FIH Rising Star of the Year award in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively. The duo was chosen basis their performances at the FIH junior hockey World Cups.

Sanjay was India’s top goal-scorer with eight goals at the 2021 men’s junior World Cup as India finished fourth. The women’s junior World Cup was held in 2022 and Mumtaz Khan was India’s best performer with eight goals, helping her team to a fourth-place finish.

The winners will be decided through voting. Votes from a special expert group will count towards 40 per cent of the final tally while the national associations (20 percent), media (20 percent) and fans and players (20 percent) will make up the rest of the tally.

Voting will go on till September 30 and the winners will be announced in October.
