English football is back!
The FA Community Shield, the traditional curtain-raiser of the new English football season, where the champions of the previous the Premier League and FA Cup face each other, will be held this weekend on Saturday, August 29.
This time, the match is between two giants of English football, Liverpool and Arsenal, at the iconic Wembley stadium in London with the fixture available on live streaming in India.
This is Liverpool’s second-consecutive appearance in the FA Community Shield, having lost the 2019 title to Manchester City on penalties.
For Arsenal, this will be a first FA Community Shield appearance since the start of the 2017-18 season.
Liverpool won their first Premier League title in 2019-20, finishing 18 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. It ended Liverpool’s three-decade long league title drought.
Arsenal, on the other hand, won a record 14th FA Cup after a comeback 2-1 win against London rivals Chelsea in the final.
Incidentally, both Liverpool and Arsenal share the record for most FA Community Shields, with 15 titles each.

The FA Community Shield has witnessed an Arsenal vs Liverpool fixture three times in the past. Liverpool have won two of those, in 1979 and 1989, while Arsenal’s sole victory came in 2002.
