Evgenia Medvedeva eyes coaching role: "I want to do it"
Olympic silver medallist has begun advising juniors at the Toronto Cricket Club
It may well be - the Russian has told Japanese magazine Smart Flash: "I want to do it".
"As a senior, I'm giving advice to two juniors in Toronto about skating and health.
"It may be difficult to do it for life, but I want to coach after I retire."
Sailor Moon and Asada Mao
Medvedeva spent months in lockdown in Japan during the coronavirus pandemic, practising for the Sailor Moon Prism on Ice exhibition show before it was postponed.
The 20-year-old recounted how her love of the Japanese anime character became widely known, when she first met Asada Mao at the 2015 World Championships.
"Before the victory ceremony, I really wanted to talk to Mao Asada, but I can't speak Japanese. So I sang the song from 'Sailor Moon' which I remembered in Japanese.
"She was very surprised and told me, 'please sing in front of the TV cameras next time'."
The Russian also paid tribute to Asada, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic silver medallist.
"She took figure skating to a level never seen before – she was not only a great skater but also a very strong woman.
"She is a big figure in the history of figure skating, and even if times have changed, she is an athlete many people will remember."
