Tokyo-bound Indian shooters Rahi Sarnobat and Manu Bhaker shot identical scores of 291 in the women’s 25m pistol event’s precision stage at the European Championships in Croatia on Monday.

Their scores saw them jointly-top the seven-member Minimum Qualification Score (MQS) list after the precision round. The rapid-fire stage of the event is yet to conclude.

All Indian shooters at the event are competing in the MQS section. They are only shooting for official scores and not contesting for medals.

However, if they were competing in the main field, Rahi Sarnobat and Manu Bhaker would have been placed eighth in the regular list and former world champion Olena Kostevych would have been first. Fifty-five shooters are participating in the main event.

Besides the two, four other Indians were in action on Monday in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions mixed team event’s round one MQS section.

The pairing of Anjum Moudgil and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar registered an impressive 875 out of 900 to top the three-team MQS section. Anjum Moudgil accounted for 438 points while Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar managed 437.

Their score would have placed them 19th on the main list.

The other Indian team of Sanjeev Rajput and Tejaswini Sawant ended 33rd overall with a score of 862. Each shooter scored 431.

Thirteen shooters of the 15-member Tokyo team are in Croatia for the European Championships. Only skeet shooters Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Angad Singh Bajwa are training in Italy.
