The European club handball season comes to a conclusion this weekend as the men's EHF Final4 2024, the finals tournament of the 2023/24 EHF Champions League, takes place in Germany.

On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June, four teams - SC Magdeburg of Germany, Aalborg Håndbold of Denmark, FC Barcelona Handbol of Spain, and THW Kiel of Germany – will play in a semi-final and final round at the Cologne Arena.

Magdeburg are the defending champions from last season, while Barça won the title in 2021 and 2022. Aalborg have never won the trophy but reached the final in 2021, losing to the Spanish side, while Kiel's last triumph came in 2020.

Three of this season's Champions League top 10 goalscorers will be in Final4 action: Dika Mem of France and Barça, Iceland's Ómar Igni Magnússon (Magdeburg), and Swede Niclas Ekberg (Kiel).

Many of the players involved will aim to end the season on a high, ahead of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Find out how the clubs got to this stage and where to watch the Final4 below.

EFH Men's Final4: How the teams got here

The four teams that have reached this stage of the 2023/24 EHF Champions League all finished in the top two in the group stage, bypassing the playoff round.

Kiel and Aalborg finished first and second in Group A, picking up 22 and 19 points respectively, while Magdeburg and Barça took 24 and 22 points in Group B respectively.

All four teams earned direct passage to the quarter-finals, where while Aalborg and Barça each recorded straightforward wins, the two German teams only narrowly earned their spots in the Final4.

Aalborg beat Hungary's Veszprém 64-60 on aggregate, while Barça beat Paris St-Germain 62-53.

But Kiel had to stage a big comeback to scrape past another French side, Montpellier, 61-60, having been nine goals down after the first leg, while Magdeburg needed a 4-3 penalty shootout to beat Kielce of Poland after a draw over two legs, with a final aggregate of 53-52.

None of the teams will face their group-mates in the semi-finals of the Final4 bracket.
