Dancing in the street!

It has been 10 days of firsts at the inaugural Winter Youth Olympic Games: the first medal at a Winter Olympic event for Africa, the first time for cool new formats on an Olympic programme, and the first time a Closing Ceremony has totally rocked the high street!

The amazing street party took place on the infamous Maria-Theresien-Straße, the historic street that cuts right through the heart of the city and features the iconic Golden Roof, the synonymous landmark of Innsbruck.

The crowds were wowed by the music and dance acts performing on the giant stage, then came the emotional moment when the Olympic flag was handed over to the next host city for the Winter YOG, Lillehammer, Norway, and the Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Flame was extinguished. The mountains surrounding Innsbruck were then lit up with an impressive fireworks display, and the young athletes continued to party into the night.
