31 gold medal events will take place on day six of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The two events most likely to steal the headlines are the 100m races taking place at Alexander Stadium.

Double double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica will be the favourite in the women's event while in the men's South Africa's Akani Simbine will attempt to defend his title from four years ago. Speaking to Olympics.com yesterday morning after his heat the 28-year-old said he was "feeling good" and focusing primarily on himself as he faces a host of challengers.

Swimming will wrap up today and Australia look destined to win even more gold medals as their Tokyo 2020 star Ariarne Titmus goes in the women's 400m freestyle. She will likely meet new wonder kid in the stroke Summer McIntosh in the final. The Canadian finished just behind Titmus' Olympic rival Katie Ledecky of Team USA at the world championships last month leaving many intrigued to how this final will play out.

The 4x100m medley relays are sure to be an electric curtain-closer with Adam Peaty expected to line up for Team England in the men's race while Emma McKeon will spearhead the Australian women's team.

Tokyo 2020 silver medallist and Team England co-flag-bearer Emily Campbell will be out to add a Commonwealth weightlifting title to her collection in the +87kg event. She will meet familiar foe Feagaiga Stowers of Samoa who took the title on the Gold Coast while the Englishwoman settled for bronze.
