Tennis superstar Coco Gauff is on the cover of TIME Magazine.

The 20-year-old reigning US Open champion graces the 13 May issue in a piece titled "Why the tennis star is playing for herself now," featuring a long interview with the American conducted earlier this year.

In it, Gauff discusses the coming Olympic Games Paris 2024 - among a myriad of topics: "I want to win gold so bad," she says. "I get goosebumps representing my country."

Gauff is the top-ranked American and currently world No.3, with a chance to reach a career-high No.2 in the world depending on results this coming 10 days at the Madrid Open.

“She’s focused. She’s fearless," tennis great Chris Evert tells the magazine in the piece. "We need some leaders in the women’s game. She definitely will be one of them. If not the one.”

"At first I was scared to grow up,” Gauff says in the story, which is wide-reaching. “But now I’m embracing adulthood and womanhood."

Later, she adds: "My goal is to be relaxed and have fun and play with less pressure. I know people are going to start talking about defending the US Open title later on in the year. I’m not worried about that.”
