The red, white, and maple leaf covered building is a temporary home away from home for Canadian fans here in Paris. Since opening its doors on Saturday 27 July, it seems it might just become a place of permanent residence for the sports lovers during the games. Let's take a look inside the Canada Olympic House!
With opening hours set between 11:00 - 23:00 from now until 11 August, fans have officially set up camp at their country's Olympic House in the Parc de la Villette. This arena-turned canadian-shrine, is an ode to some of Canada's greatest olympians, past and present, and offers daily activities and consistent coverage of team Canada on the big screen for Paris 2024 for families, friends and fans.
After mandatory security checks at the upstairs entrance of Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, the grand and spacious admission area, located downstairs, is nothing short of array of screens. Here, there are showings of the games as well as virtual fan support in the flashy digitalised maple leaf (of course). You'll have to show your daily ticket on arrival, which is priced at €30.00 for adults and €12.00 for children under 12 years.
The lower level gives fans ample space to sit back, relax and enjoy the games on TV screens both inside at the Celebration Arena, and at two outdoor viewing areas - perfect to soak up the sunshine. You won't miss it, but if you do, follow the sounds of cheering chanting Canada fans!
Here, you can also grab yourself some Canadian and French inspired food and beverages. Team Canada partners Molson, Pillitteri Estates Winery, and Cottage Springs will also be available for purchase with a valid credit or debit card and no cash will be accepted at the venue.
In the case of many fans, this house will be their 'go-to hang out' in between the games, once it "ramps up," said Jordana Fair, a Vancouver native who has plans to attend the house for every day of Paris 2024.
"It's early, but I think it [the Canada Olympic House] will get wilder as the days go on. I think Canada needs to win some medals and then things will get going for sure." she said.
If the Parisian sun gets a little too much to bare, inside you'll find the Celebration Arena fitted with an extra large high resolution screen, and surround sound speakers for a cinematic experience of this years Olympic Games. The studio room is also filled with big red benches, and Canadian pillows for comfort and well because Canada, right?
In between showings of the games, the Canada Olympic House team are put to work to provide fun and entertainment to guests. If you're lucky enough you might also be called to the platform to showcase your performance skills and competitive side... go on, let it out!
On the bottom level of the house you'll stumble upon an activewear haven.
Here, a lululemon x Team Canada child was born. From light tees, accessories and winter bits, you can pick up the branded merch in store until 11 August.
As long as you have a valid ticket for entrance - anyone can check out the Canada Olympic House and all countries and ages are more than welcome. If you are planning on stopping by, be prepared for lots of fun and a magical atmosphere.
