BWF Malaysia Masters 2024: Lee Zii Jia survives epic to reach semis

Lee Zii Jia came through an epic quarter-final with world number four Anders Antonsen at the Malaysia Masters 2024.

Lee won in three sets to continue his winning run on badminton's BWF World Tour on Friday (24 May) at his home event, live on Olympic Channel.

The Malaysian, who was crowned Thailand Open men's singles champion last week, won the first game 21-15 in Kuala Lumpur.

Denmark's Antonsen fought back in the second, taking it 21-19.

Both men were diving around the court at times in the third, which went to world number 10 Lee 21-11 to secure his win, in 1 hour and 23 minutes.

Lee will face Ng Ka Long Angus in the final four.

Top seed and men's world number one Viktor Axelsen also made it through his last eight match on Friday. The Olympic champion beat Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien-chen 21-15, 21-11. He'll face Lu Guang Zu in the semis.

Meanwhile, in the women's singles, PV Sindhu beat the number one seed Han Yue of China to book her spot in the last four.
