Top-seeded Yamaguchi of Japan overcame Tunjung 21-17, 23-25, 21-18, to reach her second final in as many weeks since winning bronze at the 2023 World Championships.
She'll face Zhang Yi Man in the Hong Kong final, after the Chinese shuttler beat Goh Jin Wei 21-14, 21-11 in their semi.
The BWF Hong Kong Open 2023 is a Paris 2024 Qualifier, with players earning ranking points towards possible Olympic qualification.
The tournament concludes with the finals in all singles and doubles disciplines on Sunday 17 September.
