It doesn’t get much better than a World Cup gold to kick off the skeleton season, which British pair Tabby Stoecker and Marcus Wyatt got to experience last weekend.

With a combined time of 2:01.19, the duo stormed to success in the mixed team event in Altenberg, Germany in the first mixed race of the new term on Saturday, 7 December.

A difference of 0.37 seconds saw them pip Americans Sara Roderick and Austin Florian to the title.

With the discipline set to make its Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026, this is just the start of preparations for the Britons.

They are scheduled to race three more IBSF World Cup events between now and February 2025.

Here is their upcoming schedule:

  • 3 January 2025: Skeleton mixed team in Winterberg, Germany
  • 10 January 2025: Skeleton mixed team in St. Mortiz, Switzerland
  • 7 February 2025: Skeleton mixed team in Lillehammer, Norway

The pair also raced individually in Altenberg, with Stoecker finishing tenth in the women’s singles and Wyatt coming in third for the men’s singles.
