Olympic breaking hopefuls were after important qualifying points this weekend at the second stop of the Breaking for Gold World Series, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

With Paris 2024 just over a year away, the best in the sport are looking to make history as breaking makes it Olympic debut.

B-Boy Dany hopes to be a home star at those coming Olympic Summer Games, and the Frenchman added to his chances of being there with a win over B-boy Phil Wizard of Canada, the 2022 world champion, in a spirited, energetic men's final.

Japan’s B-Boy Shigekix claimed the bronze medal, edging American B-Boy Jeffro. B-Boy Amir, the Kitakyushu champion in February, failed to make it into the Top 8 quarter-finals.

Liu Qing Yi, aka B-Girl 671, the women's winner in Kitakyushu, was unable to keep her momentum in tact, beaten in a women's final that grew in intensity as it unfolded. It was B-Girl Ami (pictured above) who captured the title, instead, the Japanese star exacting revenge from that February final.

B-Girl Ami had also captured the 2022 world championships over B-Girl 671.

B-Girl Ayumi fended off European champ B-Girl India (Netherlands) for bronze.
