Beatriz Ferreira defeated Finland’s Mira Marjut Johanna Potkonen in the second lightweight boxing semi-final.

Now the Brazilian fighter is one win away from the women’s lightweight Olympic gold medal.

After nine minutes of boxing, the decision went to the judges’ scorecards and Ferreira was given a unanimous victory, 5-0.

Potkonen cried and the Brazilian danced after the decision was announced.

"I have been doing this dance for some time now," said Ferreira, discussing her celebration. "I’m confident to use it because it helps me to relax and to express how happy I am by winning."

Ferreira was quick off the mark, gaining the upper hand from the opening bell in the first round.

She landed her favoured right hand and several left hooks on two-time Olympian Potkonen to win every round on all five scorecards.

The five judges scored the bout 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 and 30-26.

Now Ferreira has a shot at making that medal gold.

In the final, she will face Ireland’s Kellie Anne Harrington for the Olympic title.

Potkonen, as the losing semi-finallist, gets a bronze medal.
