SHANGHAI - Comments from the USA’s Braden Hoban after scoring an 83.03 in his second run of the Men’s Skateboard Street Preliminaries at the OQS Shanghai on Thursday.
Braden Hoban - USA
On trying to make the highly competitive US Olympic team:
“There’s a lot happening, a lot of really gnarly skaters out there, and it’s hard to get in there. It’s really hard.
"But I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself. I like to just go out there and have fun. That’s what it’s all about.
“All these dudes are just really cool. We see each other at all the contests and it’s always fun to just hang out and skate with each other.
"We just feed off each other. There’s so much energy, so much octane. Everyone’s hyping each other up. It’s just fun.
“But yeah, it is the Olympics. We wanna get in there. I’m just trying to do my best and we’ll see what happens, but if it doesn’t work out I’m not gonna be tripping.”
On contest skateboarding versus street skateboarding:
“It’s a whole other world. I’ve met so many cool people just being at contests. Street skating and contest skating are just two different worlds.
"There’s a lot more eyes on you and different people in general. It’s cool to be part of both worlds.”
