Bobsleigh and skeleton at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024 will be hosted at the Alpensia Sliding Centre - a reused venue from PyeongChang 2018.

In bobsleigh, both men and women will compete in the monobob (single-person sled), which weighs 165kg, can reach 130 km/h, and the identical sleds are allocated to athletes in a random draw.

It's a particularly special track for the Republic of Korea, as home hero Yun Sung-bin won the Asian nation's first ever skeleton Olympic gold there in 2018.

Germany lead the way in bobsleigh with three golds in the history of the Winter Youth Olympic Games, while their four medals overall (and two golds) leave them top of the standings in skeleton too.

Below, we take a look at the athletes to look out for, a full schedule, and how to watch the luge action live on Olympic Channel via Olympics.com and the official Olympics app.

Bobsleigh and skeleton: Athletes to watch out for at Gangwon 2024

On the men’s side of bobsleigh, keep an eye out for Julian Klein, who won the Youth World Series last year.

The German will have to be at his very best, however, to beat home hero So Jaehwan - who was a regular winner in the series and will be competing on his home track - and another star in the making in the form of China's Xiangyu Chi.

Danish former national champion sprinter Maja Voigt is the favourite for women's bobsleigh gold, as last season's Youth World Series winner.

Providing her with stern competition will be Thailand's Italian-born Agnese Campeol, while born-and-raised Tunisians Beya Mokrani and Sophie Ghorbal will be breaking new ground for the North African nation as female bobsleigh athletes competing in an Olympic event.

In men's skeleton, Latvia's Emils Indriksons is the one to watch as the 2022/23 season youth series winner. He finished just ahead of Republic of Korea's Yeonsu Shin, who will also be hoping for a great performance on his home track.

Nanna Johansen of Denmark is considered the women's gold medal favourite, as the youth series winner, and her greatest competition will likely come from China's Yuxin Liang, who finished second.

Clara Aznar of Spain is a promising star of the sport, having already competed in the World Cup and now being touted by many as the next Ander Mirambell - a four-time skeleton Olympian.
