BMX freestyle cycling at Paris 2024 Olympics: Preview, full schedule and how to watch live
For the second time, the urban sport BMX freestyle cycling will appear at an Olympic Games when 48 of the world's best compete at Paris 2024.
The Urban Park at Place de la Concorde in the heart of Paris will provide a stunning backdrop for the riders, who will be competing in a venue that will also host three other urban sports: 3X3 basketball, breaking, and skateboarding.
Both defending champions from Tokyo 2020, Charlotte Worthington and Logan Martin, are returning – but perhaps neither as the sure-fire gold medal favourite.
Discover who are the stars to watch, schedule and how to watch the action live.
Stars to watch in BMX freestyle at Paris 2024
The three women's medallists from BMX freestyle's debut at Tokyo 2020 are all back: reigning champ Worthington, silver medallist Hannah Roberts of USA, and Switzerland's Nikita Ducarroz.
But in the last three years, the People's Republic of China team has come on leaps and bounds, thanks to their coach – and men's Tokyo medallist – Daniel Dhers. Sun Jiaqi and Deng Yawen both impressed at the Olympic Qualifier Series, and are bona fide medal contenders.
On the men's side, neither Dhers nor Tokyo bronze medallist Declan Brooks have qualified. Martin does return, but Anthony Jeanjean – seventh in Tokyo – is the favourite on home soil after winning both legs of the OQS.
