Olympic gold medallists Emma McKeon, Kaylee McKeown and Ariarne Titmus will lead a 44-member Australian swimming squad at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) revealed the 41-member team for the pool events on Saturday.

Four swimmers were named for marathon swimming events earlier. Moesha Johnson, already selected to compete in the 10km marathon swimming, also made the cut for the women’s 1500m event, taking the total team size to 44.

Emma is the reigning women’s 50m and 100m freestyle Olympic champion while Kaylee won the women’s 100m and 200m backstroke events at Tokyo 2020. Ariarne is the reigning Olympic champion in women’s 200m and 400m freestyle events.

Three-time Olympic bronze medallist Cameron McEvoy is also in the Australian Dolphins squad for Paris 2024. The 30-year-old will become the first Australian male swimmer to take part in four Olympics.

Bronte Campbell, a dual Olympic gold-medal winner, will also be swimming in her fourth Olympics.

Bronte’s elder sister Cate Campbell, however, failed to make her fifth Olympic team. Cate has won four Olympic gold medals in her storied career.

Cate failed to qualify for the women’s 50m and 100m freestyle teams at the Australian Swimming Trials.

Of the 41 members selected for the pool events in Paris, 16 have won Olympic medals previously while 23 will be making their Olympic debuts this year.

The final selection was made after the conclusion of the Australian Swimming Trials, which was highlighted by Ariarne Titmus’ world record 200m freestyle swim.

“I am delighted to announce our Dolphins who have earned their place in the Australian Olympic Team for Paris 2024,” said Australia’s Chef de Mission Anna Meares. “We have witnessed an extraordinary week of the toughest competition. The way these athletes have driven each other has made such an impact.”
