Sunday, March 8, is expected to be an eventful day for the Indian boxers with the possibility of six Olympic berths getting sealed by the end of the day.

Vikas Krishan will be opening the day for India’s men boxers with his quarter-final bout against Japan’s Sewonrets Quincy Mensah Okazawa in the men’s welterweight (63-69kg) category.

The second men’s bout of the day will see Sachin Kumar taking on China’s Chen Daxaing in the men’s light-heavyweight (75-81kg) category.

The second session will see Ashish Kumar facing Indonesia’s Muskita Maikhel Roberrd in the men’s middleweight (69-75kg) category, while Satish Kumar will take on Daivii Otgonbayar of Mongolia in men’s super-heavyweight (+91kg) category.

The women’s day will be commenced by Pooja Rani taking on Thailand’s Pornnipa Chutee in the middleweight (69-75kg) category, which will be India’s only women’s bout in the first session.

The second session will see Lovlina Borgohain facing Uzbekistan’s Maftunakhon Melieva in the welterweight (64-69kg) category.

Men’s squad: Amit Panghal (52kg), Gaurav Solanki (57kg), Manish Kaushik (63 kg), Vikas Krishan (69kg), Ashish Kumar (75kg), Sachin Kumar (81kg), Naman Tanwar (91kg) and Satish Kumar (+91kg).

Women’s squad: Mary Kom (51kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (57kg), Simranjit Kaur (60kg), Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) and Pooja Rani (75kg).

Asian boxing Olympic qualifiers fixtures and schedule

The Asia/Oceania Olympic Boxing Qualification will see the preliminary rounds run from March 3-7 while quarter-final bouts are scheduled for March 8-9. The semi-finals and box-offs will be held on March 10, with the finals and last round of box-offs set for March 11.
