The Olympic Channel are at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2019 in Stuttgart, Germany, bringing you all the latest news, videos, and updates.
Simone Biles, the 14-time world champion, and her Team USA teammates practiced at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle on 29 September ahead of official podium training, and Biles was on form, landing both her double-double dismount off beam and a triple-double on the floor routine.
All times below are Central European Summer Time (UTC+2 hours). Most recent entries first.
8:10 pm – That's a wrap!
So, short but sweet from the Americans this evening.
They have a day off tomorrow before their official podium training session on Tuesday, 1 October.
But we'll be back with more in the morning with the first day of women's podium training as the athletes move from the practice halls to the competition arena for their first taste of the World Championships equipment.
Join us tomorrow!
8:00 pm – WATCH: Biles' double-double beam dismount
7:45 pm – Session over
And that's it for this practice session. The American girls applaud each other loudly as they finish up on the uneven bars. It's been a solid evening's work.
Stick with us as we've got more video coming from that work-out.
7:20 pm – USA sitting out vault
It's time for the next rotation but Team USA aren't headed to the vault. Looks like they're giving it a miss and will go straight to uneven bars next.
7:15 pm – Triple-double territory
Biles just landed the triple-double in her floor routine in practice. Watch it below!
7:10 pm – A 'Biles' on beam?
The four-time Olympic champion showed the double-double dismount off beam tonight. The skill, which she first performed at August's U.S. Championships, would be named the 'Biles' - her third named element in the Code of Points - if she successfully competes it this week it in Stuttgart.
"It was a good one, too!" she joked with Olympic Channel after rotating to the floor exercise.
6:58 pm – Rebeca Andrade watches on
Brazil is also in the training session with the U.S. Their superstar Rebeca Andrade, who tore her ACL in June, is in Stuttgart but only to cheer on her teammates.
6:53 pm – First round of beam routines: done
Each of the U.S. women ran through their full beam routines with mixed results. MyKayla Skinner nailed her back handspring to back full series but had a silly error on a leap later on. Suni Lee was solid on her two back handspring to layout series but missed her aerial to two back layouts. Biles had a small check on her on switch half but was otherwise clean. Kara Eaker had beautiful routine going but sat down her dismount.
6:50 pm – Full routine practice
Unlike this morning when the Americans were mostly getting used to conditions here in Germany, they are practising their full routines this evening.
6:42 pm – It's nearly time
Three minutes left of general warm-ups before practice begins.
Here's the set-up the athletes are working with in Women's Training Hall 1.
6:33 pm – Team USA are here
The floor is a hive of activity as the athletes have arrived for their workout and are warming up en masse. We're expecting USA to start on the beam shortly, before moving to the floor, then vault and uneven bars.
6:17 pm – A quick recap from this morning...
The U.S. women, who arrived yesterday, trained earlier today. During the two-hour session, Simone Biles, Grace McCallum, Kara Eaker, Jade Carey, MyKayla Skinner and Sunisa Lee took the opportunity to get the feel for the equipment in Stuttgart and performed mostly sequences and parts. No full routines from the Americans this morning.
Despite any possible jet lag, the defending World and Olympic champions still looked sharp and will be the heavy favourites to win their fifth-straight World team title next week.
6:15 pm – Guten Abend!
Good evening from Stuttgart, where the sunny weather from this morning has given way to greyer skies and a drizzle in the air.
But we're here at the evening training session for Team USA women, who are about 15 minutes away from beginning their work-out.
This is what we saw from them earlier today…
