Paris 2024 judo: All results, as Italy's Alice Bellandi dominates final to take home gold medal in women’s -78kg

Alice Bellandi of Italy captured gold in women’s judo -78kg at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 after defeating Inbar Lanir of Israel, who took home silver, by a final tally of 11-0.

Bellandi was leading 1-0 when Lanir committed her third minor penalty which subsequently ended the match. The Italian is an experienced judoka, most recently winning silver in -78kg at the 2024 World Championships. She also competed in the -70kg weight class at Tokyo 2020. Lanir won bronze at Tokyo 2020 in judo mixed team, and gold at -78kg at the 2023 World Championships and the 2023 World Masters.

Ma Zhenzhao of the People’s Republic of China won bronze medal match A after beating Germany’s Anna-Maria Wagner in golden scoring by a final tally of 1-0. She competed in -78kg in Tokyo but lost in her opening match.

Patricia Sampaio of Portugal defeated Takayama Rika of Japan by ippon in bronze medal match B by 10-0. She previously competed in this same weight class at Tokyo 2020.
